Happy New Year everyone. Hogmanay was pretty good, spent the first part of the evening at Adam's house playing rock band etc. and Buzz with his folks. Saw the new year in there then headed back home along the death road. Had a little to drink and went to bed about 7.30.

Today was the inaugural Magnusson lecture in the Saltire Centre of Glasgow Caledonian University. I was an event support supervisor for the event and I was on my feet for like five hours, not pleasant! Still, I had a nice meal and a Christmas night out afterwards so it was okay!

Met with Patric and Adelle today and went down to our new student radio studio. It's not the best and is in a terrible location but I think with a bit of tweaking it will work just great. We talked a lot and established that for the moment we are going to go with a podcasting approach, for two main reasons. Firstly, it's easier to do technically and to get volunteers to do (they don't have to worry about screwing things up live on air!). Secondly, it's the only way to meet the uni's policy of reviewing all broadcasts before they are put to air.

Attended the first Caledonian Student Parliament of the year yesterday afternoon. Was elected Radio Convenor which means we can get on with organising Caley FM now hopefully. Still got some licensing issues to sort out there but I'm sure we can get it done.

Got the inception meeting of the Events society to look forward to on Thursday afternoon.

Last weekend for my 18th birthday (go me!), we went to see Prom Night. It's a remake of a classic thriller/horror movie from the sixties, although I've never seen the original.

I was very impressed with it, great fun. The basic plot is that a teacher becomes obsessed (as in, loopy obsessed) with a girl in his class and proceeds to murder her mother, looking for the girl. She hides under the bed and survives. He escapes from his secure hospital and comes looking for her at her prom night, where you get the typical 'pick them off one by one' subplot throughout the movie.

Apparently a mosque was demolished and people detained/tortured for not putting up posters around the mosque promoting the Olympic games.

Why is this still being allowed to happen, when America is happy to invade anywhere in the middle east over much the same issues? I don't know how much oil China has, but that might be worth finding out..
