Met with Patric and Adelle today and went down to our new student radio studio. It's not the best and is in a terrible location but I think with a bit of tweaking it will work just great. We talked a lot and established that for the moment we are going to go with a podcasting approach, for two main reasons. Firstly, it's easier to do technically and to get volunteers to do (they don't have to worry about screwing things up live on air!). Secondly, it's the only way to meet the uni's policy of reviewing all broadcasts before they are put to air.

I intend to develop a homebrew system for approving podcasts, maybe do a little PHP script work and have it create podcast XML files from MP3 locations etc, then enter the details into a database for approval and echo approved shows back to the main listing.

That way, there's nothing particularly technical for the DJs to learn, and it fits with all our policies.
