Last weekend for my 18th birthday (go me!), we went to see Prom Night. It's a remake of a classic thriller/horror movie from the sixties, although I've never seen the original.
I was very impressed with it, great fun. The basic plot is that a teacher becomes obsessed (as in, loopy obsessed) with a girl in his class and proceeds to murder her mother, looking for the girl. She hides under the bed and survives. He escapes from his secure hospital and comes looking for her at her prom night, where you get the typical 'pick them off one by one' subplot throughout the movie.
Aside from the glaring stupidity of the police (after the hotel is evacuated, they send the girl home, and don't post any cops inside the house, even though the killer is still on the loose..), this is a great watch.
